Instagram post One thing I love about living in this area is all of the great local spots nearby, and Lazy Lane is definitely one of them. Whether you’re celebrating something or just don’t feel like cooking (we’ve all been there 😅), it’s a great place to keep in your rotation. If you haven’t been yet, the next month is a great time to visit because they’re participating in Houston Restaurant Weeks. Great food, support a local business, and your meal helps support the Houston Food Bank. If you’ve been before, tell me your go-to order because I know I’m not the only fan! The Burton Group, Powered by Compass Instagram post If I’m being honest, posts like this make me a little uncomfortable. Talking about awards has never come naturally to me because I know there are so many incredible Realtors who work tirelessly for their clients every single day. But I’ve also learned that it’s okay to celebrate milestones, especially when they represent the trust so many people have placed in me. This year, I was honored to be recognized among the top 1.5% of Realtors nationwide. What means the most isn’t the ranking. It’s what it represents. Every family who trusted me with their first home, their forever home, an investment, a difficult transition, or a move across town. Every referral. Every client who came back years later. Every person who told a friend, “Call Jess.” This recognition belongs to all of you just as much as it does to me. I don’t take that trust lightly, and I hope every client has felt that along the way. Thank you for allowing me to do work that I genuinely love, in a city that I love even more. And because I always love hearing from you… what is one accomplishment in your own life, big or small, that you’re proud of this year? I’d love to celebrate you, too!!! The Burton Group, Powered by Compass Instagram post We’ve always believed that buying or selling a home deserves more than a checklist. It deserves someone who listens before offering advice. Someone who notices the details, prepares for what’s ahead, communicates clearly, and advocates fiercely when it matters most. At The Burton Group, we care deeply about the experience our clients have from the first conversation to long after the boxes are unpacked. Yes, we want great results. But we also want our clients to feel informed, confident, and genuinely cared for throughout the process. Because at the end of the day, we’re not just helping people move. We’re helping them step into the next chapter of their lives, and that’s a responsibility we never take lightly. The Burton Group, Powered by Compass Instagram post Eight years ago, a gentleman walked into one of my open houses. He had recently lost his wife and thought it might be time to sell the home they had shared for decades. We talked. We made plans. We explored options. And then he decided he wasn’t ready. A few years later, he called again. This time we marketed the home, received multiple strong offers, and once again he realized the timing wasn’t right. The truth is, selling a home isn’t always a real estate decision. Sometimes it’s an emotional one. Sometimes a house holds decades of memories, traditions, and pieces of a life you aren’t quite ready to leave behind. Over the years, we stayed in touch. We talked about life, family, travel, and what the next chapter might look like. Eventually he found it. A beautiful home in Chambers Creek where there would be room for the antiques he had collected around the world, room for his treasured china collections, and room for new memories. When the time finally came, we spent months preparing his Shepherd Park Plaza home for market. Every detail mattered. And even then, it wasn’t easy. There were moments of excitement, moments of doubt, and moments when moving forward felt impossible. Yesterday, we closed. After lunch together, I listened as he talked about visiting family, traveling more, joining new social groups, and all the things he’s looking forward to in this next season of life. For the first time, I could hear more excitement than sadness. 🩷🩷🩷 That’s when I knew it was finally the right time. This transaction took eight years. And I wouldn’t change a thing. Congratulations, Mr. Melott. Thank you for trusting me with such an important chapter of your story. The Burton Group, Powered by Compass
